Strong growth of the industrial production, automobile industry, retail sales, formal employment and exports in the beginning of 2010 increase the optimism in relation to the Brazilian economy post-crisis. Actions by the State stimulate this growth and transfer income, strengthening the internal consumer market.
The industrial production has grown 16% in January, 2010, in comparison with the same month of 2009. There was an increase in 23 industries, with highlight to automobiles (+41.4%). As regards groups of goods, all categories presented positive rates, specially the durable consumer goods (+36.4%).

In economics, BRIC (typically rendered as "the BRICs" or "the BRIC countries") is a grouping acronym that refers to the related economies of Brazil, Russia, India, and China. The acronym was prominently used by Jim O'Neill of Goldman Sachs in 2001. According to a paper published in 2005, Mexico and South Korea are the only other countries comparable to the BRICs, but their economies were excluded initially because they were considered already more developed.

Irrigation potential in Brazil can grow more then 1000%
The irrigation sector in Brazil has potential for growth of more than 1,000% over the medium to long term. According to the data of the Chamber of Irrigation Equipment (CSEI), the Brazilian Association of Machinery and Equipment (Abimaq) show that the country has 4.1 million hectares irrigated, this represents 7% of the potential 60 million hectares of farmland. In 2010, the general forecast of growth in irrigation varies between 15% and 20%.

Brazil reaches a record production and first surplus of the oil trade balance. The Country has recorded in December, 2009, a record in the national production of oil, with a daily average of 2.1 million barrels. In 2009, for the first time, the oil and derivatives trade balance reached surplus, a result of the difference of US$ 592 million between exports (US$ 15.4 billion) and imports (US$ 14.8 billion).

Goldman Sachs argues that the economic potential of Brazil, Russia, India, and China is such that they could become among the four most dominant economies by the year 2050. The thesis was proposed by Jim O'Neill, global economist at Goldman Sachs. These countries encompass over 25% of the world's land coverage and 40% of the world's population and hold a combined GDP (PPP) of 15.435 trillion dollars. On almost every scale, they would be the largest entity on the global stage. These four countries are among the biggest and fastest growing emerging markets.
